Chinese New Year at Wing’s Restaurant, Lincoln
Square
Chinese New Year fell on 9th February (celebrating
the year of the Rooster). To mark the festivities, Wing’s Restaurant,
Lincoln Square joined forces with the Chinese Arts Centre to help
raise money and support the Genesis Appeal. The main goal for
the charity is to raise £2 million to construct the first
purpose built breast cancer prevention centre in Europe.
Tickets for the night cost £100 per person
and this included a champagne reception with dragon dance and
firecrackers followed by an Emperor’s Banquet and Auction. Local
football teams and businesses kindly donated a selection of amazing
gifts that were auctioned during the evening. The most expensive
lot in the auction was a pair of football boots donated by Manchester
City Footballer, Shaun Wright Phillips; these raised a staggering
£2,000.00. A further £3,000.00 was raised for Kim
Fortune wife of Manchester United Footballer Quinton Fortune,
to sing two songs.
All proceeds from the evening went to the charity
and over £51,000.00 was raised.
